The Bivens Fellowship, Peer Show, and more, at Cleveland Print Room
Artists Sydney Nicole Kay and Camilo Gonzalez Barragan, recipients of the 2021 Stephen Bivens Fellowship, will be presenting work created during their residencies at an exhibition in the Cleveland Print Room gallery from August 27 through September 17. Started in 2021, this memorial fellowship is a project housed at the Print Room. This annual two-month residency provides two artists with space and funding to focus on their practice and is supported in partnership with art.BIV and CPR.
From September 24 through October 22, the winners of our 2021 national juried Peer Show exhibition—Ilenia Pezanniti, Cara Lee Wade, and Jeremy Underwood—will have their work on display, as one of the prizes given in that competition.
The 2022 Stephen Bivens Fellowship participants Chris Mason and Keelyn Bradley will be showing their residency work in our gallery from October 29 through November 19. Artist Bradley will present Looking For Emmett Till: An American Boy Tour Project, which combines stop motion animation, visual poetry, and traditional documentary filmmaking techniques. Mason, a Cleveland artist and image maker, makes distinctions and decisions about what to extract from the constant visual noise of the world with a consistent practice that is awe-inspiring.
And The Cleveland Foundation’s Equity in the Arts award recipient, photographer, and activist Ruddy Roye’s Outhwaite Homes Estates series will be exhibited at the Print Room from November 26 to December 17. This project, centered in the historical Central community, documents the neighborhood by interviewing past and present residents.
