The Age of Capricorn, at La Cosecha

Juliann O’Fray, gallery assistant at La Cosecha Galeria

La Cosecha Galeria has welcomed artists to develop, not only as studio artists, but as creatives who collaborate and co-design around a defined aspiration as entrepreneurs. As of November, we are totaling ninety pieces sold since our doors opened May 2021! That is original artwork sold—meaning multiple local artists in a multitude of genres earned income—and I must thank you art lovers! “Let’s make it 100 pieces sold by NYE Art Challenge.”

We also introduced our Incubator Studio as part of the Creative Industry Professional Development Program this summer. Our program is specifically geared for individual artists, crafters, makers, and entrepreneurs. We are excited to welcome Juliann, our first graduate from the program, to join our LCG team as gallery assistant, handling day-to-day operations.

Juliann O’Fray, aka Jewlz, began as an artist at a young age. She has years of experience in community involvement, having participated in the Painting a Better Picture program for two years, the annual Painting in the Park event, along with many other art events. Juliann has been featured in several interviews by Vocero Latino News, and she won a place in the Northeast Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2019 Latino Entrepreneur of the Year Awards as owner of PMU Enhancement Studio LTD.

“I get inspired by anything, from the weather to a do-it-yourself video I watch to see if I can do something similar or better. What I love most about my profession is making people feel happy: I love seeing everyone’s face once I’m finished. Beautifying people brings so much joy to my heart,” says Juliann. “I’m all about art, born loving it. I have volunteered my time to be a part of all events. Art truly is my top first loves. I’m looking to evolve not only with makeup, but paintings and apparel.”

Surthriving Covid: Artist of Color Symposium

La Cosecha Galeria is proud to present its second edition of the artist of color symposium, this year themed Surthriving Covid—a creative industry storytelling series focused upon the perspective of issues and adaption during an unprecedented time. As we survey the landscape for the future in the arts community, many artists and arts organizations may not survive, nor will we go back to how things operated previously. The choice becomes simple: either spend our time as artists making a living or making art live for us. Connect with industry leaders to learn more about current obstacles and transformational strategies used by these innovators within the Arts & Culture community as they share their stories, processes, and ideas. We welcome the entire community to come enjoy our art, music, performances, and perspective! The event will take place from 6:00pm to 10:00pm on Wednesday, November 24, at the Negative Space Gallery, 3820 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44144 (2nd Floor). Venue capacity is limited; please abide by the event guidelines.

Storytellers: Liz Maugans, Bella Sin, Marty Geramita, Jean Pee, Meganne Stepka, The Aunt Dee Show, YAFYN the Great, Kaesevyn, Kalico Da Demon, Marisol Ramos, The Urban Cowboy, Siaara Freeman, Topiltzin.
