In conjunction with the FRONT International exhibition, our summer show schedule will be highlighting the works of nationally recognized regional artists. First, the paintings of Julian Stanczak and the sculptures of Barbara Stanczak will be featured. In August, the large- and small-scale textual works of George Fitzpatrick will hang in our galleries. Lastly, the varied contemporary works of Andrea Joki, Amber Kempthorn, Deb Lawrence, Dana Oldfather, Frank Oriti, and Marc Ross will finish out our schedule.

Flowing Form, our exhibition of the Stanczaks’ works, will be on view from June 23 to July 21. A large outdoor mural by Julian Stanczak will be displayed on the Winton Manor building at East 9th and Prospect Avenue as part of the FRONT International exhibition. The mural is within walking distance of Bonfoey’s. Our show is presented as an opportunity to view the artist’s equally powerful smaller-scale paintings. His work explodes through his use of color and the structure of geometric shapes to communicate his view on light and his life experiences. Barbara Stanczak creates fascinating wood sculptures that examine nature as well as her thoughts and imaginings. Together the exhibition creates a commentary about the world around us.

Our second show will showcase the works of George Fitzpatrick. The exhibition will be on view from August 3 to September 1. We are thrilled to be exhibiting these works, as this is his first show in Cleveland since 1996. Fitzpatrick’s work studies the form of language to create an absorbing experience of text and design. His technique involves copying texts from ancient Greek and Roman poetry to nineteenth-century writings onto varying sizes of paper in a stylized and expressive script. His unique focus on the art of writing shows how the movement of letters and words explores layers of meaning through the original text and Fitzpatrick’s individual viewpoint.

The third exhibition, Aspects, will highlight recent works by Andrea Joki, Amber Kempthorn, Deb Lawrence, Dana Oldfather, Frank Oriti, and Marc Ross. The exhibition will be on display from September 7 to October 6. Each artist uses his or her own voice and form of expression to create a conversation and speculation of life. Whether determining the importance of slowing down and enjoying small memories or experiencing the energy and confusion of obstacles, life is depicted in its complexity.
