Spring at Edward E. Parker Museum of Art

Edward E. Parker, honored at East Cleveland City Council.

We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of warm weather, which allows us to take on outdoor projects, get a much-needed infusion of vitamin D, and enjoy the beauty of Spring. We hope you make time to visit the museum and connect with us during one of our upcoming events. If you didn’t know, CAN Journal will be hosting their distribution tree at The Edward E. Parker Museum of Art on Friday, May 16. This is our second time hosting, and everyone is invited. Here’s what else is on the agenda this Spring at EEPMOA:

Bi-weekly Art Classes
Herman Gilbert has graciously continued sharing his expertise in our bi-weekly art class. Our class meets in the lower-level studio every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm. Students are currently sculpting by rolling and stacking coils, forming busts, and forming clay on the wheel. As always, seniors attend class free of charge. Don’t be intimidated, as all skill levels are welcome in our friendly, inclusive environment.

The Gift of Art
This pop-up art show is organized by Cleveland artist Walter Allen Rogers. The work of local artists is displayed in our Creative Arts Complex, and is available for purchase from 2 to 7 pm. Refreshments are provided by African American Artists of Cleveland. Please join us for conversation, networking, and the opportunity to pick up a print or a one-of-a-kind piece. If you’re an artist who’s interested in participating, contact us. Upcoming dates: Saturdays, April 26 and May 24.

New Exhibits
We will continue to hold a series of exhibits featuring the work of local artists. Each show will hang for two weeks, and will showcase the work of three artists. Each show will be announced on social media, along with images of selected work, biographies, and artist statements. Artists may choose from a variety of themes and will be scheduled according to availability. More than one theme may be explored simultaneously. Community Collaboration
The Edward E. Parker Museum of Art supports initiatives that bring people together to positively impact our community. We welcome like-minded partners to join us in this endeavor. Whether it’s providing voter registration materials, health and wellness information, or other helpful resources to residents, we want to support members of the community in any way we can. We believe that quality arts programming should be accessible to everyone and believe that collaborative efforts and outreach are beneficial to everyone involved.

As Memorial Day approaches, we must show our appreciation to all past and present members of the military. You have our deepest respect and gratitude. Thank you for serving—you are appreciated.
Business Hours

The museum is open to the public from 10 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday. We would love to take you on a tour of our first-floor galleries and lower studio space. Visits outside of normal business hours are available by appointment as well. Leave a message at 216.860.0039 if interested. At EEPMOA, “Think Art for social development” is our motto.
