Connecting to Futures
Connecting to Futures is a multi-dimensional 2024-2025 pilot program to help high school students who are interested careers in the art sector to envision what those careers might be, and to connect them with post-secondary educational opportunities that can put them on a path to success.
It is also an opportunity for post-secondary programs in the arts—including two-year and four-year programs in fine art, design, arts administration, art history, curation, and more—to identify prospective students at regional high schools.
High school art teachers are invited to participate by giving free copies of the printed quarterly CAN Journal to students. CAN Journal is a comprehensive guide to art activity in Northeast Ohio, previewing exhibits, artist talks and events–overwhelmingly free and accessible–at museums, galleries, and studios throughout the region.
Each quarter the section will have at its core a feature profile of an arts professional discussing their career. Examples of careers to be explored include:
Non-profit arts administrator
Commercial gallery director
Working artist
Arts educator
Art therapist
Museum curator
Graphic designer
