Kristy Hughes, “Casita”, 75”x70”x22”, Fiberglass, Acrylic, Polymer, Monotype, Collage, Cardboard, 2023

Join exhibiting artist Kristy Hughes in the gallery for a collage-making workshop. See how small sketch-book collages transform into large-scale sculptures, and understand how artists use the practice of collage to plan their next great works. Allow yourself to explore the inspirational surroundings of the gallery and experience a practice foundational to Kristy’s creative process.

Beginning with collaged shapes and found objects, Kristy Hughes’ colorfully painted abstract sculptures celebrate empowerment, gratitude, and the potential for change. With personal, time-honored ephemera embedded into the surface, the works oscillate between the grandiose and the mundane. Into Your Sunlit Hope seeks to resolve oppressive societal systems with small possibilities.

All supplies are provided, but you are welcome to bring ephemera that is meaningful to you.
