Edward E. Parker Museum of Art / Winter 2025

Greetings CAN readers. In case you didn’t know, Black History is celebrated every day at the Edward E. Parker Museum of Art (EEPMOA). Even so, the winter months remind us that Black History month is nearly upon us. As an African American-owned museum, our display focuses on individuals, stories, and facts that are less known. The more these stories are shared, the sooner they can become common knowledge. We hope you make time for a visit and leave inspired by what our display offers.

Community

The distribution of non-perishables, hygiene products, socks, scarves and gloves was successful. Thanks to everyone who donated to this effort. We were able to provide help where it was most needed and appreciated. Watch for updates related to free health screenings and voter registration on our social media pages.

Upcoming Exhibits

We have a group exhibit scheduled to open Friday, February 20. It will feature the work of three or four local artists and remain on display for one month. The theme for this show is Lay of the Land. If you are an artist with work that aligns with this theme, please show us your work. When the show is finalized, sample work, artist bios and statements will be posted to our social media pages: Facebook and Instagram. For information, call 216.682.8214 or email snickerfritz1941@yahoo.com.

The Gift of Art

This pop-up art show is organized by local artist Walter Allen Rogers. Artwork is displayed in our Creative Arts Complex, and is available for purchase from 2 to 7 pm. Refreshments are provided by African American Artists of Cleveland. Please join us for conversation, networking, and the opportunity to pick up a print or a one-of-a-kind piece. If you’re an artist who’s interested in participating, contact us. Upcoming dates: December 20, January 24, 2026 and February 28, 2026.

Art Classes

Our bi-weekly art class meets in the lower-level studio on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 pm. Clay has been the medium of choice, with self-portraits as busts requiring a good amount of time to complete. This class is free for seniors, and has a friendly, inclusive atmosphere. All skill levels and artistic mediums are welcome.

Collaborate

The museum engages in projects that bring people together and impact the community in a positive way. We provide helpful resources and affordable, quality arts programming for members of the community. Joining forces with like-minded partners increases the impact that can be made within the community. If you have an idea for a project that would benefit the community, please contact us so that we might collaborate with you.

Business Hours

The museum is open Monday through Friday, 10 am to 3 pm. Come tour our first-floor galleries and lower studio space. Allow Ed Parker to share his work with you. Visits outside of normal business hours are available by appointment. To request a visit, leave a message on the office line: 216.860.0039.

At EEPMOA, “Think Art for social development” is our motto. We believe that exposure to the arts has a wealth of social, educational, and emotional benefits that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy.
