Creativity in Full Bloom, at Art House

by Rebecca Kempton and Thalia Arias
Each summer, Art House, Inc. comes alive with curiosity, innovation, and community. Through free, week-long camps, children from Brooklyn Centre and surrounding neighborhoods explore art in a hands-on environment that encourages imagination, confidence, and creative expression.
This summer, light and nature have inspired projects ranging from cyanotypes and seed mandalas to kinetic sculptures dancing in the breeze. Guided by our teaching artists, campers discover that art can be found everywhere, even in the shadow of a fallen leaf.
Every day brings opportunities to collaborate, solve unique challenges, and build confidence through artistic exploration. Nature becomes both inspiration and teacher, encouraging children to experiment with texture, color, composition, and design while seeing the world with new eyes.
Each camp shows us the power of creating together. Parents and caregivers often join in the process, revealing how art naturally builds connections across age and experience. The camps also spark new ideas for future intergenerational programming.
The summer camps are signature Art House programs, but exploration and innovation continue year-round through classes, workshops, exhibitions, and events for all ages. As the season progresses, we’re not only watching creativity bloom, we’re planting seeds for a stronger, more connected community through the arts.
