Alternative Process Workshops & Camps This Summer

Cleveland Print Room has some new “alternative process” workshop offerings this summer for those looking to expand their photography practices:

In the darkroom at Cleveland State University’s Theatre and Arts Building, instructor Hadley K Conner will present the Manipulations Intensive series of workshops over four sessions in July. Students will explore a variety of creative techniques that can be applied to images either in the darkroom during processing, or after the print is finished, including photograms, image layering, solarization, chromoskedasic printing, and toning and hand coloring.

The week of August 3 through 7, Mary Defer will lead Eco Photo: An Alternative Process Camp at the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center in Peninsula. Students will be able to discover the magic of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and alternative photography in this five-day immersive camp, experimenting with eco-friendly photo processes like cyanotypes, anthotypes, and lumens, using natural objects and found textures as both subject and medium. Participants will engage in free nature play, go on guided field trips, and explore the park, centering slow looking and mindfulness.

Details and registration for these programs can be found under the Classes & Workshops section of our website at clevelandprintroom.com.
