Explore Art & Nature at the Morgan’s Annual Kozo Harvest & the Morgan Rising Extravaganza

Rian Brown and Paula Mindes try their hand at paper marbling

The Morgan Conservatory continues to celebrate our 15-Year Anniversary with a kaleidoscope of events. Autumn is a prime time at the Morgan as we commemorate a great year with our annual kozo harvest and the Morgan Rising silent auction and benefit party. This fall we will also have three talented artists-in-residence spending time in our studios: Patricia Brett (September 5–October 6), Seiko Tachibana (October 9–30), and Margaret Craig (November 3–December 1).

Morgan Rising

From 5:30 to 9:30 pm on Saturday, October 7, the Morgan will host a hands-on art party and silent auction in celebration of our 15-Year Anniversary. Join us for a night of live demonstrations of papermaking and letterpress printing, and our annual silent auction! Tickets are $10 for students and $20 for adults. For tickets and more information visit MorganConservatory.org

Annual Kozo Harvest

Fall is almost here and our annual kozo harvest is right around the corner!

As the leaves on our paper mulberry (kozo) trees begin to change color, we know that it’s nearly time to harvest this fiber for Eastern papermaking. Join us for a community-wide event that serves as a hands-on introduction to the foundation of papermaking. By growing the raw material on site, we not only avoid the sizable expense of importing the fibers from Asia, but also create a self-sustaining cycle of papermaking.

Our fall harvest is expected to be the second weekend of November after the first frost; however, follow our social media for exact dates. This event is family friendly, free and open to all.
