Bonfoey: The Importance of Digital Outreach

We’ve been on a rollercoaster since our lives were turned upside down in 2020 by COVID-19. As an art gallery, our goal has been to pivot and adapt; instead of seeing the pandemic as an obstacle in our path, we can use and have used it for growth.

Our largest goal, during and after the pandemic, was to keep our patrons informed of current events in the gallery amidst capacity limits and social distancing. To answer this problem, we focused on building our digital presence and expanding our outreach.

Our first outreach was to introduce The Bonfoey Buzz, our online newsletter that went live in January of 2021. Through this newsletter, we have been able to keep our patrons updated on our exhibition schedule, spotlight new artists that we have taken for representation, and feature new additions to our gallery inventory. The Bonfoey Buzz also features our Artist of the Month and online-only exhibitions, and it highlights framing and installation projects taken on by the gallery.

The pandemic forced us to reach out to our clients through our website. In 2021, our major pivot was to overhaul and reintroduce our website,, to expand our online capabilities. We now show the works of every artist that we represent, an inventory of over 2000+ artworks. The website has also enabled us to have works purchased through our online storefront, along with showcasing works through online exhibitions and being able to send clients works through virtual showrooms.

In the last few years, we’ve also made it an important goal to expand our social media presence and highlight both our artists and services. We created our Behind the Art video series allowing our artists to talk about their work and give a more in-depth explanation to share on our social platforms. We also created various content to share on social media: our Art of the Day series where we posted artwork every day during 2021, Framing Friday that highlighted our framing services, and our Bonfoey Back in the Day series that shared photos from our history.

Over the course of the last three years, we all have had to pivot and reorient our lives. But here at The Bonfoey Gallery, we see change as an opportunity. We thank you all for your support through 2022, during these trying past few years, and through our 129 years of business. Here is to 130!
