Works of Jonah Jacobs at Kaiser Gallery

Jonah Jacobs

Kaiser Gallery is proud to announce that Jonah Jacobs has been selected for the 2022 solo show award. Born in Denmark, Jacobs has spent most of his life in the US, and he currently lives and works in Cleveland. He is a graduate of Antioch College and an Army veteran who served in South Korea and in the 82nd Airborne Division. Jacobs’ work focuses on recreating the grandeur and complexity of nature’s dizzying array of organic shapes and structures. From the graceful spiral arms of galaxies to the nebulous webs created by tree roots to the hexagonal geometry of honeycomb, the structures of nature are wondrous creations where beauty meets function, and the repetition of simple patterns gives rise to an enigmatic complexity. Jacobs’ solo exhibition will be on view at Kaiser Gallery from June 10 to August 7, with an opening reception during Walkabout Tremont on Friday, June 10.

Following Jacobs’ show is a special exhibition by Kubra Al Hilali in partnership with Building Hope in The City, on view at Kaiser Gallery from August 12 to September 4. Kubra Al Hilali is an Iraqi immigrant and artist based in Cleveland who uses the medium of painting to express messages of hope and justice that speak to our collective human longings. Kubra has a strong desire to create beautiful, Iraqi-inspired art while also elevating the civic and creative voice of youth in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood. Building Hope in the City selected Kubra as their artist-in-residence for the Creative Fusion program because of her work through our Hope Center for Immigrants & Refugees.

Kaiser Gallery is a contemporary art gallery and cocktail lounge located in the heart of Tremont. In this format, we combine our dedication to the visual arts, both local and national, with libations to create a more immersive art-viewing atmosphere that can readily bring art to new audiences. Our cocktails also allow artists to submit their portfolios for consideration without submission fees, removing barriers for underrepresented groups within the art world. Kaiser Gallery’s eclectic public programming is planned around exhibitions and provides opportunities for thoughtful community engagement.
