Cleveland Photo Fest PHOTOTHON 2021

Cleveland Photo Fest Directors Laura D’Allesandro, Jim Szudy, and Herbert Ascherman Jr.

Opening May 1 through June 30 at the Bostwick Design Art Initiative, the Cleveland Photo Fest’s PHOTOTHON 2021 will host seven photography exhibitions: three drawn from international submissions, three of local talent, and our groundbreaking feature presentation: I Identify As, a Cleveland portrait project of sixty White, African American and those who identify as Other photographers exhibiting portraits of each other in classic black and white.

In addition to numerous exhibitions held at various galleries and art spaces around the city, the Cleveland Photo Fest will include a high school student exhibition at the Prama Art Space in Parma, a show of photographs interpreting poetry at Coventry’s Mac’s Backs, and displayed at the Bay Arts Center: an exchange show with fifty photographers from Kerala, a state in southern India.

Currently, our educational programs include a modern dance interpretation of exhibited photographs accompanied by experimental noiseicians, a presentation by an African American woman photojournalist who worked in the Middle East for ten years, an evening with the classic Magic Lantern (circa 1890), a fabulous program of early twentieth century Eastern European film, and a photo-based discussion of Cleveland’s homeless.

All exhibitions and programming information will be displayed on our website, clevelandphotofest.org, for public viewing. For more information, email contact@clevelandphotofest.org.
