Find your FIRE!
The lazy, hazy days of summer are here! Special events like graduations, weddings anniversaries and birthdays demand uniquely thoughtful gifts and delightful attire. Flux Metal Arts represents 24 local emerging and professional artists. Our gallery is filled with a wonderful variety of silver and mixed metal jewelry and decorative metalwork. Each unique piece is thoughtfully created by the artist’s hand. No mater what you choose to gift or wear, you are sure to find that unique piece for casual or dressy occasions.
Are you inspired by area arts events this summer? Join us in the studio to find your creative fire! Join a fun community, and grab a bench with fellow creative’s during Open Studio.
Do you like to do things your way? Custom private and group lessons are available for you! Schedule a day or evening finding your creative fire- bond with friends, team build with co-workers, create your own networking event, or complete your jewelry badge activity for scouts. No group is too small to enjoy custom projects tailored just for you.
Make art, and find your artistic voice! Join us in a class. From half-day to full-weekend, enjoy a wide range of technique and project based classes in jewelry making and metalworking to fit your interests. In addition, do not miss these exciting travelling artists:
California artist Richard Salley joins us in the studio June 9-11 for two special workshops. If you like mechanisms, hinges and catches you’ll enjoy his “Sterling Padlock” workshop that is sure to be challenging and fun. In this two-day workshop, you will learn to etch sterling silver and construct a working padlock with key that is both decorative and functional. Complete the weekend with Richard and discover the hidden value of your silver scrap bin in “Stonehenge Jewelry.” Get in touch with your primitive side in this one-day workshop that will introduce you to fused, forged, and funky jewelry. Break all the rules and make fabulous pieces with no solder, no flux… no fooling!
New Jersey artist Jill Hurant, returns July 16 – 17 for her workshop “Etruscan Braided Ring”. Be inspired by the romance of ancient times as you learn to make a beautiful Etruscan style ring. Students will fine-tune their skills in both soldering and fusing, preparing wire and learning an ancient Roman method of weaving while fabricating a statement ring with a hand braided shank and bezel set stone.
Maryland artist Eric Burris heats things up in the studio August 4 – 6 with his three day Master Workshop– “Mokume Gane: Wood Grain Pattern in Metal.” Start by making your own billet fusing layers of silver & copper, create beautiful patterns, and finish with a seamless forged band ring.
