Tregoning & Company Presents The Most Beloved Cleveland Artist No One Knows: Anthony Eterovich

While Tony Eterovich was for over 50 years an inspiring teacher at the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Cleveland Schools (where Mayor Carl Stokes was one of his students), very few people ever saw the magnificent range of paintings, drawings, and watercolors that this masterful painter created for his private satisfaction, apart from his entries into juried museum exhibitions and group shows.

Eschewing the limelight and honing his skill to interpret the succession of Modern Art movements that were attracting contemporary American artists following WWII, Eterovich left behind a magnificent body of work dating from the 1930s continuously through to 2006 –producing large-scale bravura views of downtown Cleveland at the age of 90!

Tregoning & Company has on exhibit and sale nearly 50 of these paintings and works on paper in the artist’s first career retrospective show, and timed to honor Eterovich on the occasion of his 100th birthday, which was April 2, 2016.  A Thrilling Act – The Art of Anthony Eterovich (1916-2011) is on view in the gallery through July 2, 2016.  A full color catalogue accompanies the show with essays and remembrances of Eterovich from CIA Reinberger Gallery Director Bruce Checefsky, artists-colleagues William Martin Jean and George Kosmon, and Anthony Schepis, and may be purchased through the gallery.

Tregoning & Company also celebrated its own 34th anniversary in April, and is in its 8th year in the dynamic West 78th Street Studios art center complex (entered from its own entrance directly from 78th Street.) Our inventory of 400+ works of art ranging from antiquities to new art from talented regional artists are available through our website, tregoningandco.com.
