Syd and Hlywiak’s Garmonbozia, plus Homegrown at Cleveland Print Room

January 2015 marks the second anniversary of the opening of the Cleveland Print Room, and we are as excited as ever to continue bringing world-class photography exhibits, engaging and fun photography workshops and classes, and after-school photography programs in Cleveland’s only community-accessible photographic darkroom to the Greater Cleveland Area.

Our first exhibit of the new year, Garmonbozia, features the work of two of our members, Diana Hlywiak and Steve Syd, working both on their own and in collaboration. Having met in 1991, Diana and Steve’s friendship grew though a common fondness for David Lynch, death metal, and photography. The two have worked together on many projects, including the construction of a giant mobile pinhole camera made from a box truck. This show presents a wide range of styles, from Hlywiak’s large-scale surrealistic, and somewhat retro, digital imaging, to Syd’s more abstract, experimentally-processed film-and-paper-based pieces.

In March, we will be presenting our second Homegrown show, a curated collection of the work of some of the best photographic artists Northeast Ohio has to offer, with something for every discriminating taste.

March will also bring the arrival of our third Cleveland Foundation Creative Fusion artist, photographer Antonia Cruz from Santiago, Chile. We look forward to meeting and working with this talented young photographer while introducing her to all Cleveland has to offer.
