Eat for Art

We welcome the New Year with the much-loved Tommy’s New Years Day Pancake Breakfast on Thursday, January 1, where you can eat all you want and have the opportunity to win a variety of gift certificates from local Heights Arts supporters.

Tommy’s Restaurant in Cleveland Heights has hosted a benefit pancake breakfast for Heights Arts since 2001, when Tom Fello first offered to help raise funds for the Coventry Arch, located at the intersection of Coventry Road and Euclid Heights Boulevard.

All proceeds from the breakfast, plus tips and raffle tickets, are donated by Tommy’s to Heights Arts. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, providing support for a vibrant line-up of community arts programming. The 15th Annual Tommy’s Pancake Breakfast is sponsored by Big Fun, Mac’s Backs-Books on Coventry and Tommy’s Restaurant. No reservations required; come hungry!

Light Show
After a pretty nice summer—but one with not quite enough sunshine to hold us over until next spring—we are taking back the light from January 16 to February 28, 2015, with the aptly named
Light Show. All visual art by definition relies upon light; this special exhibition celebrates light itself as an element of the subject matter. Light Show showcases artists who work with materials, processes, and visual languages that speak to the theme of light. Works include neon sculpture, photography, glass, furniture, and jewelry as well as the more functional translation: lamps.

Bach Bartók Beatles

Famous works by three great masters of different eras and genres inspire our Sunday, February 15, Close Encounters chamber music concert, featuring members of the Cleveland Orchestra. Katherine Bormann and Isabel Trautwein, violins, Sonja Braaten Molloy, viola, and Tanya Ell, cello, explore how the basic elements of rhythm, harmony, and color can describe the full range of human emotion. Bach Bartók Beatles takes place at the Midtown studio of Kalman & Pabst Photo Group. Limited seating; advance ticket purchase is required. For more information, visit heightsarts.org/concerts.
