Unleash Your Inner Artist This Summer at the Morgan

Mia Brown-Seguin, Artifact no. 2 Blanket Quilt, handmade paper with watermark and pulp painting, abaca, hemp, and cotton fibers.

In summer, the Morgan Conservatory is a whimsical art wonderland with a (not so) secret garden of flowers and papermaking fibers—open from 10 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Saturday. Summer is a great time to stroll through our gallery, wander the garden, and visit our store in person or online. You can also dive into our Summer Workshops, and set your creative energy free. We’re especially excited to be launching six-week courses in letterpress printing and bookbinding. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or looking to learn and explore, the Morgan Conservatory is the place for you.

THE MORGAN IS LAUNCHING SIX-WEEK COURSES IN LETTERPRESS & BOOKBINDING THIS SUMMER!

In addition to our curated selection of weekend workshops with visiting artists, the Morgan is launching six-week courses in letterpress printing and bookbinding, led by local teaching artists Danielle Dunn and George Barnum. Held Thursdays from 6 to 9 pm, June 4 through July 9, this new format supports deeper artistic exploration, sequential skill building, and the creation of a cohesive body of work, while fostering stronger connections between instructors and students.

Our curated Summer Workshops, on weekends only, offer enticing opportunities to explore new facets of papermaking, marbling, structures for artist books, printmaking (with Legos!), box-making, and more. Discover what’s on offer: morganconservatory.com/s/shop or call 216.361.9255.

EXCITING EXHIBITIONS

All About Abaca highlights artworks using the highly valued and versatile papermaking fiber, abaca. Featuring Morgan Conservatory artists-in-residence alongside local artists new to the medium, each artist was given a forty-by-sixty-inch sheet of handmade abaca paper to manipulate and utilize within their own artistic practice. The resulting works will take a multitude of forms and emphasize the multifaceted nature of this fiber and medium.

Genius Loci and the Pathos of Places, curated by Arron Foster and Erik Waterkotte, features fifteen contemporary artists who explore the unique, interstitial impact of particular places through the language of print, hand papermaking, photography, installation, and mixed media. Originally exhibited at the 2024 MAPC Conference, Genius Loci, or “the spirit of the place,” refers to a location’s distinctive atmosphere and how people assign meaning and respond emotionally to place.

THE MORGAN’S FABULOUS DRESS TO IMPRESS FASHION SHOW FUNDRAISER IS COMING UP!
