This Fall at Waterloo Arts: Hadley K. Conner, Megan Dardis, and Paige L. Morris

This fall, the Waterloo Arts Gallery and Cafe will be full with the works of Hadley K. Conner, Megan Dardis, and Paige L. Morris. Each artist will draw from their own experiences to highlight the social constructs which impact feminine expression.

Hadley K. Conner’s mixed media Voyager series portrays female figures navigating their surroundings. Exploring the visual articulation of anxiety, ennui, transition, and introspection, the biographical pieces echo the sentiments of real women in a variety of life stages. Visitors will add further complexity and insight to this work as memories engage with the experiences portrayed within Conner’s work.

Paige L. Morris’ multisensory installation, the Sorries,poses critical questions about the power and responsibility of forgiveness in our current world. Challenging cultural dynamics surrounding female-identifying individuals, the Sorriesencourages viewers to embrace their complex and messy emotions as they reflect upon the power dynamics and social constructs around grief and forgiveness.

Megan Dardis’ Stay Composedseries explores notions of female identity through the visual medium of abstract paintings. Calling attention to societal restrictions placed on the female voice, the pieces will showcase the strengths of feminine power through a balance between small work which bursts out of their frames and large work transporting viewers to a captivating inner world.

Conner, Dardis, and Morris will create a foundation for personal meditation, interconnection, and emotional complexity.

Hadley K. Conner and Paige L. Morris’ work will be on display in the Waterloo Arts Gallery from October 3 through November 15. The opening reception will take place from 6 to 9 pm on Friday, October 3.

Megan Dardis’ work will be on display in the Waterloo Arts Cafe from October 3 through November 15. The opening reception will take place from 6 to 9 pm on October 3, with an artist talk by Dardis at 7:30 pm.
