Summer at Edward E. Parker Museum of Art

Rozenia Cunningham, Reaching for the blooms.

We have been anticipating the arrival of Summer because outdoor gatherings with family and friends are always enjoyable. Unfortunately, we have two events that had not been confirmed for our summer schedule at the time of this printing: The Collard Green Festival, which typically takes place the last Saturday in September, and the Alternative Health Fair, which is usually scheduled for the following week. Stay tuned—if dates are set, we will post flyers on ClevelandArtsEvents.com, Eventbrite, and social media.

Art for all Ages

We have scheduled our Intergenerational Art Program for June 17–July 24. Throughout the six-week course, participants will complete art projects that encourage collaboration among family and friends of all ages. All necessary materials will be supplied, and completed artwork will be showcased in a final exhibition. If this opportunity to relax, have fun, and create lasting memories sounds good, mark these dates and participate! This project is sponsored by Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, who support our goal to make sure quality arts programming is available to all.

The Gift of Art

This Gift of Art is a pop-up art show curated by Cleveland artist Walter Allen Rogers. The Creative Arts Complex will showcase the work of local artists from 2 to 7 pm on select Saturdays. Originals and prints will be available for purchase. African American Artists of Cleveland will supply refreshments. Join us for conversation, networking, and the opportunity to pick up a print or an original work of art. Anyone interested in displaying their work should give us a call. Upcoming dates include July 26 and August 23.

Free Art Classes

We are fortunate to have a great group of artists who consistently participate in our bi-weekly evening art class. A range of sculpting methods are being explored—constructing with armatures, building with clay coils, and working on the pottery wheel. Edward Parker and Herman Gilbert graciously share their expertise and guidance in the studio. We have space for more participants, so we invite you to join us if exploring this class would benefit your artistic development. All skill levels are welcome. Class is held every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm and is free for seniors.

Upcoming Exhibits

We are organizing a series of exhibitions featuring the dynamic work of local artists. Show duration, number of artists, and themes may vary, but these exhibits are typically on display for two weeks and feature three artists. The work of local artists Rozenia Cunningham, Alsie Clay, and Cynthia Beacham, who recently exhibited, are featured in this article. In advance of future exhibits, we will share sample work, biographies, and artist statements on social media and circulate event flyers. For further details, contact the office or send an email to snickerfritz1941@yahoo.com.

Collaboration

A primary objective of our organization is to make a positive impact on the community. Our ability to broaden our influence is significantly enhanced when we collaborate with partners who share our vision. If you have a project focused on community development or are seeking an organizational ally, we encourage you to share your ideas with us. Working together expands your outreach and benefits all participants.

Business Hours

The museum is open from 10 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday. We invite you to explore the collection of unique sculptures and artwork created by EEPMOA founder, Edward Parker. Our team enjoys guiding visitors through the galleries and the lower-level studio space. Visits outside of regular hours can be arranged by appointment by dialing 216.860.0039. As always, “Think Art for social development”—it’s our motto.
