This spring, EP Studio proudly presents Terra – The Abstract Nature of Looking Down by Richard Dubé, an exhibit that offers a fresh perspective on nature’s creativity. Dubé’s macro photography captures intricate patterns and textures, encouraging viewers to reconnect with the often-unnoticed elements of the natural world.

With nearly sixty years of experience photographing nature, Dubé doesn’t just document its visual aspects—he captures the emotional connections formed when immersed in the wilderness. Influenced by John Muir’s eloquence in expressing the bond between people and nature, Dubé’s work seeks to evoke similar feelings of wonder and reflection.

In Terra, Dubé transforms the mundane into works of art through photography. His images uncover the hidden details of nature, from the veins of a leaf to the rough textures of bark. Each photograph invites viewers to pause and appreciate the harmony and complexity of the natural world, revealing extraordinary beauty in the everyday.

Dubé’s passion for nature extends beyond photography. In 2000, he authored Natural Pattern Forms, exploring how nature’s patterns inspire architecture and design. As a former professional naturalist for the State of Ohio, he gained a deep understanding of ecosystems, sharpening his ability to observe and interpret subtle relationships in the environment. This unique blend of scientific knowledge and artistic vision informs his work, making his photography a striking balance of detail and emotion.

Through Terra – The Abstract Nature of Looking Down, Dubé invites viewers to reflect on nature’s fragility and resilience. His images transcend traditional photography, using the language of art to celebrate the world’s intricate beauty.
