Airing Out at Deep Dive Art Projects

Corrie Slawson, Spinal Vortex, 2025.

Out in Cleveland’s art biosphere, people often ask me “how’s it going?” I always reply with the same vague answer: “busy.” I hate that answer. Truthfully, running an independent business can feel quite isolating.

Since its 2020 launch, Deep Dive Art Projects (DDAP) has grown to include art appraising and art advising, along with consulting, printmaking residencies and a gallery program. This success means I am constantly assessing what programs I can realistically offer given my own capacity. Unfortunately, working with artists is usually cut first, which was a key motivation for starting DDAP.

Taryn McMahon & Aoife Mooney, Listen, 2025.

The Viewing Room at Deep End has been inactive for over a year—but that’s about to change! This year marks five years since Sarah Kabot’s inaugural exhibition at DDAP. To celebrate, the gallery will reopen this spring with two shows. First up, Corrie Slawson will present her detailed and expressive drawings exploring the physical and existential body. Next, there will be a collaborative exhibit by Taryn McMahon and Aoife Mooney featuring prints and textiles that delve into the relationship between language and nature. The Viewing Room will open just in time for warmer days, inviting visitors back to experience its unique atmosphere in the Waterloo Arts District.
