Zygote’s Annual Inkling of Summer Benefit Kicks It up a Notch!

For the past four years, Zygote Press has hosted an annual June fundraiser celebrating the summer solstice while supporting affordable, accessible opportunities for local artists. The event draws art enthusiasts from across Northeast Ohio, many arriving in vibrant seasonal attire to enjoy food from Cleveland Field Kitchen, music by DJ NicNacc, and a live auction featuring one-of-a-kind works. With limited space at its East 30th facility, the gathering has previously taken place at larger venues, including Worthington Yards and Convivium33.

This year, however, the celebration comes home—with a milestone twist.

Zygote Press has officially secured a permanent headquarters: a striking two-story building on Perkins Avenue. The 2026 Inkling of Summer will not only carry on its solstice tradition, but also serve as the grand opening of the organization’s new space, transforming an already high-energy event into a defining moment in Zygote’s history.

The move represents more than just a new address. With dramatically expanded capacity, Zygote will be able to serve up to four times as many artists and participants, launch new educational initiatives, and offer accessible, purpose-built studio spaces. Plans to welcome additional arts partners promise to inject fresh creative energy into the neighborhood, opening doors for artists, educators, and cultural workers while strengthening Cleveland’s broader creative economy.

Founded thirty years ago, Zygote Press has long been a hub for creative collaboration, operating an open-access professional print shop that has supported thousands of artists. Through residencies, professional development programs, and community outreach, the organization has helped shape the careers of working artists while introducing audiences of all ages to fine-art printmaking.

Now, as it celebrates its thirtieth anniversary, Zygote is stepping into its most ambitious chapter yet—expanding its reach, deepening its impact, and inviting the community to be part of what comes next.

Tickets for Zygote’s Grand Opening Celebration, Inkling of Summer 2026, will go on sale May 26.
