We’ve got an exciting array of events for Spring, 2014 at the Cleveland Print Room. Our March exhibition, Hidden Mother: Reimagined, is an invitational showing of “hidden mother” photography featuring the work of more than a dozen Northeast Ohio women reinterpreting the Victorian-era phenomenon of child portraiture wherein concealed or camouflaged mothers would hold their infant children to ensure a cooperative pose.

 

The Print Room’s first foray into international cultural exchange starts this March thanks to the Cleveland Foundation’s Creative Fusion program. We welcome Taiwanese photographer Chin-pao Chen as our Artist in Residence though the month of May. He will work on The Cleveland Project with area high school in the NewBridge Cleveland after-school youth arts program. Their efforts will culminate in a special exhibit in our gallery.

 

Keep an eye out also for our upcoming workshop with Greg Martin, The Art & Craft ofWet Plate Collodion and another Wet Plate Collodion Portrait Session. Martin has brought his vintage view camera to the Print Room previously for both a demonstration of the 19^th century process, and for holiday portrait sessions. This time he will teach the almost magical process, known for producing stunning images that retain their timeless look throughout the ages.
