Exploring Identity, Gender and Self Through an Innovative Lens, at Kaiser Gallery, Tremont

Anna Brody, Coveted III: Histories, Kaiser Gallery.

From exploring the themes of gender, race, and culture through interactive installations to the whimsical fun of music posters to turning the lens on the inside of Cleveland’s steel mills, there’s a lot happening in Tremont’s galleries throughout the spring and during Walkabout Tremont (the second Friday of every month). There’s also art on display inside some of Tremont’s legendary bars and restaurants, like The Treehouse and Edison’s Pub. Here’s a look at some of what’s happening:

Coveted III: Histories – Kaiser Gallery

2418 Professor Avenue

Kaiser Gallery presents Coveted III: Histories, on display through April 9. Coveted III: Histories is a powerful exploration of identity, gender, and self through an innovative lens. Using new media such as interactive installations, AI technology, photography, video, and performance art, the exhibition delves into themes of gender, race, and culture in a way that is both inspiring and revolutionary. Through this bold exhibit, viewers are challenged to reflect on preconceived notions of identity, while also being exposed to fresh perspectives on how members of society can be represented. By doing so, Coveted III: Histories provides an invaluable window into the ways in which individuals may express themselves differently in our rapidly-changing world. Kaiser Gallery also features a full-service bar with curated cocktails specifically designed for each show. Presenting the works of Anna Brody, Glenda Drew, Cameron Gorman, Seth LeDonne, Gina Washington, Alexa Wehrman, and Jun Zhang.

Greg’s Ultimate Super Fantastic Poster Show – 818 Studios

818 Jefferson Avenue

Greg’s Ultimate Super Fantastic Poster Show opens during Walkabout Tremont on March 10. It’s an exhibit of national and local music posters from the collection of Gregory Hovanec Jr, an avid collector who, sadly, recently passed away. The show is a stunning exhibit of poster art, largely signed and numbered prints by regional and renowned national artists like Ween, Phish, Dead and Company, Modest Mouse, MGMT, Beastie Boys, and Radiohead, from various music festivals, and many more. Posters will be available for purchase and the proceeds will help Greg’s parents pay bills and rent.

Paul Duda, Cleveland’s Industrial Valley, The Paul Duda Gallery.

Cleveland’s Industrial Valley – The Paul Duda Gallery

2342 Professor Avenue

Artist and photographer Paul Duda ventured where few Clevelanders have gone for his latest works—inside Cleveland’s steel mills to photograph an intriguing view of a side of the city rarely seen. “I’m inspired by the industrial Flats because they’re still working and providing jobs to Clevelanders. Besides, no one is allowed to get in there so people like to see what it looks like,” said Duda. Joining the images of the industrial valley at his eponymous gallery are Duda’s iconic Cleveland photos and his paintings and prints of garden scenes.
