V&A Art Gallery—a collaboration between Hector Vega and Brian Asquith—is a recent addition to the 78th Street art studio complex. In addition to Vega and Asquith, the gallery also hosts photographic treatments by Bridget Daryl Ginley and glassworks by Mike Zelenka.

Hector Vega

HECTOR VEGA is a well-known, self-taught Cleveland artist, born in Puerto Rico, with a signature artistic style featuring bold colors and geometric patterns. He has received numerous awards, both in the US and abroad. Hector’s art can be found in many corporate and private collections across the US.

BRIAN ASQUITH (aka BritishBrian), also self-taught, works primarily in highly rendered watercolors. “I’m currently working on a series focused on capturing nature’s fleeting beauty. The butterfly paintings may take longer to create than the lifetime of the butterflies depicted.” Brian’s works have been exhibited in the Cleveland Museum of Art (2005’s NEO Show), the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and private and corporate collections, including the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Brian, who emigrated to the US as a materials scientist, is now a patent attorney and on the litigation team against big pharma and their role in the opioid epidemic.

Bridget Daryl Ginley, Roller Coaster. Photo transfer.

BRIDGET GINLEY’s recent works explore the rebirth of image and memory via a gel medium transfer process. Cleveland born, she has focused lately on Cleveland landmarks, including the almost-extinct industrial lift bridges. “The works reflect my love for the land, and convey a sense of the love and hope I have for my city, and the memories gathered over the years.” Bridget has a BFA from Kent State University and an exhibit history that includes the Cleveland Botanical Garden, SPACES, Cleveland State University, Zygote Press, and numerous galleries. She is also a DJ at WRUW-FM 91.1.

Mike Zelenka, Glass.

MIKE ZELENKA is a Cleveland glassmith with a BA in Glass & Film Making (University of Toledo). Mike’s main glass-working space is at the Toledo Museum of Art. He also creates mobiles and paintings. His work is exhibited in collections across the globe, including the permanent collection of The Butler Institute of American Art (Youngstown, Ohio), Museum of Modern Glass (Denmark), the National Glass Museum (Netherlands), plus corporate collections including General Motors (Detroit), Novartis (Atlanta), and Sony (Japan).

Use the purple door to enter the gallery from the parking lot near the 78th Street driveway. Open for Third Fridays and other events, and by appointment. We look forward to seeing you.
