Edward E. Parker Museum of Art

Edward E. Parker.

Greetings CAN Journal readers. We have been busy with general maintenance, building repairs, and renovations. With these efforts coming along nicely, we are looking forward to completing our yearly programming and event calendar. We have developed new ideas and would love to revive a few events we had to forego last year as well. So, what’s happening now, at EEPMOA?

We have continued our community outreach efforts by distributing non-perishable food items to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. We are accepting donations from anyone who would like to contribute to this effort—bring what you can, take what you need. Donations may be dropped off in the Creative Arts Complex.

Group Exhibit

We have a group exhibit scheduled to open on Friday, May 22. It will feature the work of three artists and remain on display for one month. The theme for this show is United We Stand. Artwork, bios, and artist statements will be posted to our social media pages. For information, send emails to snickerfritz1941@yahoo.com. Have work to show? Consider participating in a future exhibit; sample work must be submitted for review in advance.

The Gift of Art

These pop-up art shows are usually held in the third week of each month. We are looking forward to getting back on track, as a couple of these events have been canceled in recent months. These shows are organized by local artist Walter Allen Rogers. Refreshments are served as local artists display their work for sale from 2 to 7 pm. Join us for conversation, networking, and the opportunity to pick up a one-of-a-kind piece. Upcoming dates: Saturdays, March 21, April 18, and May 16. Changes will be posted via social media.

Collaboration

The museum engages in projects that bring people together and impact the community in a positive way. By joining with like-minded partners, we increase the impact that can be made within the community. If you have an idea for a project, share your ideas and consider collaborating with us. We are currently planning a community-focused project with Healthy Father’s Healthy Children, who provide families with a wealth of helpful tools, resources, and workshops. Details will be posted to ClevelandArtsEvents.com.

Bi-weekly Art Classes

We hold art classes in the lower-level studio from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. All skill levels and mediums are welcome in this friendly, inclusive atmosphere. Please stop by for a visit. Better yet, bring your supplies and spread your creative wings with us. Seniors attend classes free of charge.

“Think Art for Social Development” is the EEPMOA motto. Exposure to the arts provides a wealth of social and educational benefits for youth and adults alike. We enjoy providing a space where creative expression can flourish without limit.

Our Business Hours

The museum is open 10 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday. Come tour first-floor galleries and lower studio space, and check out our Black History Exhibit, which remains on display year-round. Visits outside of normal business hours are available by appointment. To request a visit, leave a message on the office line: 216.860.0039.
