CSU Hosts Annual Student Art Shows at Bostwick Design Art Initiative

The 54th Annual Student Art Show and Haddad Merit Scholar Exhibition at Cleveland State University (CSU) is more than just an exhibition: it’s an educational experience that exemplifies the university’s commitment to teaching, mentorship, and professional practice in the visual arts. This anticipated spring tradition celebrates the creative accomplishments of students across a variety of media.

While we plan for a new gallery location on campus, the Gallery at Cleveland State University is hosting our student shows within the community by partnering with private, off-campus galleries. This year’s student shows will again be held at the Bostwick Design Art Initiative Gallery at 2731 Prospect Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio.

The Student Art Show features the work of CSU student artists. All students are eligible to submit to this juried show. Items on display will include painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, design, video, animation, sculpture and ceramics. Many of the works will be for sale. Judges again will have historically large cash prizes to award thanks to generous ongoing donations.

The Haddad Merit Scholar Exhibitions feature work by recipients of the CSU Art Department Studio Haddad Merit Scholarships. This year’s exhibiting scholars are Emilie Bonsignore, Erin Houghtaling, Olivia Lesko, Moira McCarthy, Isabella Smith, Kizen Sykes, Kristina Telban, and Killian Wolfe. These talented scholars are fulfilling a scholarship requirement by presenting these eight exhibitions.

An opening reception and award ceremony will be held at the Bostwick Gallery on Thursday, April 23. The event and the exhibitions are free and open to the public from noon to 4 pm on weekdays during the run of the show, April 21 to May 22. Metered street parking is available.
