Cleveland Print Room’s New Free Camera Share Program Is Creating a Pathway into Exploring Analog Photography

Starting this spring, Camera Share program participants can borrow a film camera from Cleveland Print Room’s (CPR) collection for two weeks—just like checking out a book from a library.

Each participant receives one color and one black-and-white roll of film. CPR handles the film processing, scanning, and archiving. Once your time is up, you’ll return the camera with a simple reminder that someone else is waiting for their turn.

This is a chance to slow down, observe your surroundings, and shoot with intention. We encourage participants to reflect on themes like curiosity, clarity, playfulness, and compassion while photographing. Optional add-ons include access to CPR’s darkroom for personal film processing and a circulating copy of The Mindful Photographer.

The camera selection is wide—from basic 35mm cameras to a Mamiya C220 twin reflex and even an 8X10 large-format Eastman Kodak camera. From the simple to the more advanced, there’s something here for everyone.

Photographs from the program may be selected for inclusion in CPR’s biannual zine, designed by Other Means, or featured on CPR platforms. Participants will be notified if their work is selected.
