Art Books Cleveland Continues to Create

In Memory of Bette Bonder

Going into its nineteenth year, Art Books Cleveland (ABC) meets monthly at The Morgan Conservatory in Cleveland to explore the structure and content of contemporary and traditional bookmaking techniques. The group works in many different media such as printmaking, papermaking, letterpress, calligraphy, collage, and textiles.

Last year was exciting for Art Books Cleveland. Membership increased, and with it came many new talents. At each meeting, the group holds a workshop or takes a field trip led by a group member. Some of the things created in 2025 were Tetra Pak prints, treasure fold books, cascade fold books, and a make-your-own pen for ink lettering; and the group made a trip to the Cleveland Public Library downtown to see the special books collection.

ABC also holds several shows a year at different venues. Last year, the group exhibited eighteen years of Art Books Cleveland at Pinwheel Gallery in Old Brooklyn, and held a show at The Morgan Conservatory titled Scraps, a theme that inspired many beautiful interpretations.

Currently several Art Books Cleveland members are showing work at the Shaker Lakes Nature Center in Shaker Heights (shakerlakes.org/artonview). Several additional shows are planned for 2027.
