Celebrating our Members & Three Newly-Archived Women Artists

The Archives is revealing its new look, with a Grand Reopening on Friday March1, from 5:30 – 8:30pm at the opening reception for our 2024 Annual Members Exhibition.

Now in its 10th year, this show has become the museum’s most anticipated yearly event. Active members are invited to contribute one work in any medium including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, assemblage, digital art, fine jewelry and textiles. The show has grown exponentially, and we anticipate well over 120 works will be on display. Hung in a vibrant salon style, the exhibition provides a look at everything our region has to offer artistically. The lifting of past size restrictions promises to make it an even more exciting mix for 2024.

Two free workshops accompany the Members Exhibition, How to be a Published Author with Alex Shaland on Wed. evening March 13th, and The Power of Art + Story led by Juniper Manelis on the evening of  April 17th.

Newly Archived Artists

The arresting paintings and mixed media works of new Archived Artists, Baila Litton, Arabella Proffer ,and Jean Kondo Weigl, grace our gallery walls following the Members Exhibition.

Each of these accomplished artists presents a unique body of strong narrative work, exhibited in our three separate, but connected gallery spaces. While each artist’s work displays surrealist tendencies, Proffer’s work moves well into the realm of Pop Surrealism. Litton and Weigl’s work each use personal as well as social commentary to take on issues of immigration, and the melding of cultural identities. The works from these three women will be presented from May 16th through June 29th.
