THE GIFT OF ART

Cleveland-based artist Walter Allen Rogers Jr. has been hosting monthly pop-up art shows at the Creative Arts Complex since 2022. Art collectors are encouraged to check out these events. Local artists gather and display their work for sale. These shows are made possible through the support of Ed Parker and African American Artists of Cleveland. Light refreshments are served.

CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY

This year’s Black history exhibit will be on display from January through April and will highlight artists of the Harlem Renaissance, innovators, educators, and lesser-known artists of color. EEPMOA founder Edward Parker has been creating art his entire life and has witnessed the positive correlation between arts education and higher academic achievement in students. With that in mind, we want to add an interactive trivia day for youth during the exhibit.

SHINN HOUSE EXHIBITS/ARTIST SPEAK

The exhibits at Shinn House will return in March. Shinn House is located at Mt. Zion Congregational Church, 10723 Magnolia Drive. Reverend Paul Sadler and Edward Parker (gallery curator) will collaborate to make this happen. During the exhibits, the work of three artists will remain on display for six weeks. Refreshments are served at the opening and closing shows. Artists interested in exhibiting should provide sample work to Edward Parker for consideration.

The Sunday following the closing show at Shinn House, Artist Speak is held at EEPMOA. This forum fosters open dialogue about everything related to art. Artists display a selected piece of work and discuss their inspiration, process, and technique during a Q&A session. Food is available for purchase at the forums, with dessert provided free to guests.

FESTIVAL RECAP

A special thanks goes out to everyone who attended this year’s Collard Green Festival (CGF), which had not been hosted since 2019. The 77-degree weather was beautiful, and crowd turnout was amazing. Live jazz filled the air, as Reggie Kelly, Evelyn Wright, Demetrius Steinmetz, and Drene Ivy elevated the special day to the next level. With good vibes all around, it was a wonderful end to the season. We are excited for CGF 2024.

ART CLASS

Are you looking for something to do a couple evenings a week? We are looking for people to join our bi-weekly art sessions. Join us from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in our lower-level studio. Classes are free. Students are currently working with a variety of mediums, including clay.

BUSINESS HOURS

The museum is open 10 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday. To plan a visit outside of normal business hours, call to arrange a time.

TEAM GOALS

EEPMOA loves collaboration because everyone brings something different to the table. If a partnership interests you, please share your ideas with us. We believe that art promotes social development and enjoy facilitating positive change in the community. Let’s combine resources, and make a difference.
