Zygote’s Virtual Programming Continues

Anna Tararova, Zygote’s new shop manager, will be teaching a joint workshop with the Morgan in August.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Zygote has been closed to the general public; but that hasn’t stopped our team from offering a wide variety of virtual printmaking programs. In addition to two online exhibitions, we have offered group classes, and Pay-What-You-Can Programs featuring printmakers at work, on Zoom.

We are also continuing our partnership with the Cuyahoga County Public Library, where this summer we will offer a number of free virtual workshops for children in first through sixth grade. These summer STEAM workshops will feature printmaking lessons led by a Zygote instructor, using common household items. You can find out more about the STEAM workshops, including dates and times, by searching the events at cuyahogapubliclibrary.org.

As this issue went to print, Zygote does have the very first in-person class on the schedule since early 2020—subject to change, so please check our website for the latest information. Pulp and Print, a joint workshop with the Morgan Art of Papermaking, will be taught by Zygote’s new shop manager, Anna Tararova. Students will meet at the Morgan on Saturday and Sunday, August 14 and 15, to learn every step of the papermaking process; and on the following Saturday, August 21, the class will meet at Zygote to learn the process of screen printing. Students will be able to print text, patterns, photographs, and illustrations on their very own handmade papers.
