HEDGE Gallery: Face Value
This summer, HEDGE Gallery presents four Cleveland painters–John W. Carlson, Sarah Curry, Brian Mouhlas and Douglas Max Utter—exhibiting some of their most recent work in Face Value. The show opens July 15 and runs through September 23, 2016.
The paintings in this exhibit investigate and document life stories, some based on historical events that the artists have witnessed, and some invented. A variety of painting styles, fluxing between abstraction and representation, create a journalistic experience of human life in the past and present day.
The characters in the paintings represent the artists’ approach to communicating personalities, emotion, and often painful reality. Viewers are invited to become investigators, challenged to make sense of the connection between suggestion and significance in the artists’ bodies of work.
HEDGE Gallery represents 13 local emerging and professional artists in its roster, and also promotes a growing number of established artists. The Gallery is open 11 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Friday, 11 am – 9 pm every Third Friday of the month, and evenings and weekends by appointment.
The Gallery can also be rented out for public and private events, offering an industrial chic, art-inspired space for any type of social gathering. Visit hedgeartgallery.com for more information on our artist representation, event rentals and upcoming shows.
