In Inured, Zachary Smoker presents a collection of altered mass-produced objects and de-monetized U.S. currency that speaks to our relationship with material culture, the inherently violent, anti-democratic nature of capitalism, and the power structures it employs.

Zachary Smoker is a studio artist based out of Cleveland, Ohio. He received his BFA in Sculpture in 2011 from The Cleveland Institute of Art and his MFA in Visual Art in 2013 from Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Art at Washington University in St. Louis.

As a sculptor, Zachary’s practice employs a large variety of strategies, including traditional and non-traditional object making, toy and furniture design, installation, video, performance, photography, and drawing.
Zachary currently works as an adjunct professor and studio manager at The Cleveland Institute of Art.

His work is shown nationally and resides in several private collections.
