“Motion of the Still: Still Life and Movement; a Paradox”
An extraordinary paper artist with national and international standing, we are fortunate to be numbered among Tom Balbo’s hundreds of friends and admirers, and overjoyed to host this show. The exhibit opens with an artist reception Friday, February 12th (6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) and will run until Friday, April 8th.
The pulp paintings represent an extraordinary collection of original new works painted on handmade papers (various combinations of fibers; kozo, abaca, hemp, cotton, flax, etc.). The ceramic pieces are beautiful complements, adding a third dimension to the gestures Tom uses in many of his paintings. Having mastered a variety of art mediums (ceramics, papermaking, printing, sculpture and painting), he also is the visionary, founder and Artistic and Executive Director for the Morgan Art of Paper Making Conservatory and Educational Foundation.
