Photographing 3D Artwork on a Budget, Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 6 – 8:30 PM at The Sculpture Center
Learn basic lighting techniques to create variances of contrast that best capture 3D artwork. This workshop will utilize a selection of sculptural objects with a variety of materials (including ceramic, metalwork, fine jewelry and wall-hung sculptural work) to teach best practices for each type of work.

The information offered in this workshop series will equip you with the photography skills to produce images of your artwork that will enhance your portfolio, website, exhibition applications, and professionalize your practice. Demonstration techniques will involve setup skills so post-editing is minimal or unnecessary. Equipment is not provided, so bring the camera you are most comfortable using – including your phone camera. This course is beneficial to artists of all media. The Photographing Artwork on a Budget Workshop Series is presented by The Sculpture Center, a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to providing critical resources to sculptors along their journey.
Registration Information:
- Registration fee: $40 per workshop, or a discounted rate of $75 for 2, or $110 for all 3 sessions
- Equipment Required: The camera you are most comfortable using – including your phone camera.

About the Instructor: Billy Delfs
Billy Delfs holds degrees and certificates from Cuyahoga Community College and the International Center of Photography. His work is held in many collections, including the Cleveland Clinic, Mitchell’s Ice Cream, and the Cleveland Public Library. He has exhibited throughout Cleveland, in New York City, and Los Angeles. His work has received awards from the Press Club of Cleveland, the International Photography Awards, American Photography, PDN publication, and Nikon. As a working photographer, his work contributes to and revolves around a sense of community through portraits and visual storytelling.
