Emily Vigil will be a featured artist in Dawn Tekler Studio, 78th St. Studios, for the third Friday art walks on July 21st and August 18th, and Studio Sundays July 23rd and August 20th. Vigil’s Lost Landscapes series incorporates maps, transferred photographs, and handwritten remnants, within painted landscape passages. Vigil currently lives in northeastern Ohio, earned an MFA in Louisiana, and grew up living in Brazil, Puerto Rico, and West Virginia. She credits her life travels with a yearning for deep connection to place, evident in this body of artwork. Her layered oil and acrylic paintings are a fitting complement to Dawn Tekler’s resonant encaustics.
