Experience More at the Akron Art Museum
This fall, the Akron Art Museum’s exhibitions will allow viewers to experience art in new and unique ways. Continuum: Historical Resonances in Contemporary Art encourages viewers to enjoy the past along with the present as pairs of art are displayed together. Afterimages: Geometric Abstraction and Perception creates visual and mental experiences through glittering patterns, radiant colors, and stimulating effects. More is More: Visual Richness in Contemporary Art invites viewers to have an exciting visual experience through a variety of textures, patterns, and colors.
Continuum: Historical Resonances in Contemporary Art opened on July 16 in the C. Blake McDowell, Jr. Galleries. The show features artwork from five contemporary artists whose work puts a contemporary spin on many popular themes. In addition, five pairs of artworks will be displayed together to appreciate the deep traditions found in contemporary works. Continuum will be on view through February 27, 2022.
Beginning October 2, Afterimages: Geometric Abstraction and Perception will be on view in the Karl and Bertl Arnstein Galleries. The exhibition features large-scale abstract paintings, sculptures, prints, and interactive artwork from the 1960s and ‘70s. Afterimages will be on view through January 9, 2022.
More is More: Visual Richness in Contemporary Art also opens on October 2. Ohio artists created all of the work featured in the exhibition. The artists use several different mediums and subject matter to create visually appealing works. More is More will be on view in the Judith Bear Isroff and Fred and Laura Bidwell Galleries through March 27, 2022.
