Indigo Perfumery and HEDGE Gallery Collaborate on a Sensory Exhibition
HEDGE Gallery explores a new style of programming as it joins forces with Indigo Perfumery, Ohio’s only perfume gallery, located in Lakewood. The collaborative exhibit, “Palettes for the Senses: Art + Scent Demystified” opens on Friday, February 17, and encourages the public to view the world of art through the curatorial lens of scent.
The cross-disciplinary exhibition will interpret twelve art installations created by HEDGE-represented artists from an olfactory viewpoint. This immersive experience will transcend sensory borders while exploring scent as a creative, but unseen, medium.
Through the investigation of visual art and the experience of specially chosen or crafted scents, selected and prepared by Indigo’s owner/operator Ann Onusko, interpretation will be an adventure that highlights the awareness of olfactory art and its increasing presence as a design element.
Many of HEDGE Gallery’s represented artists will be creating work; participants include Rebecca Cross, Matthew Gallagher, David Masters, Meghann Snow Hennen, Liz Maugans, Jessica Pinsky, Katy Richards, Dott von Schneider, Nikki Woods, as well as others.
The show will be on view through March 4, with an invitational preview night on Thursday, February 9, 6:30-9:30pm. The preview party, just in time for Valentine’s Day, will host specialty cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a unique sampling of scents from Indigo Perfumery. If you are interested in attending the preview, please email gallery director Hilary Gent at email@example.com.
