En Plein Air

Opening reception, Friday, September 9, 6 p.m.–8 p.m. Valley Art Center’s fall exhibit features work created outdoors in direct observance of the subject. Join the artists on opening night and see the dynamic and arresting work they have painted and drawn from life out-of-doors. The exhibition drew submissions from artists who created work outside, anywhere in the world, within the last year. Juried by Rob Crombie, the exhibition is on display until October 12, 2016. FREE and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. –2 p.m.

Annual Juried Art Exhibition

Artists living within a 250-mile radius of Chagrin Falls are again invited to submit artwork for consideration to this prestigious annual exhibition. The following media are accepted: oils, acrylics, watercolor, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, collage, textiles, jewelry, glass, sculpture, ceramics, enamel, and metalwork. Details can be found at http://www.valleyartcenter.org/annual-juried.html.

With a long tradition in the Chagrin Valley, this show enjoys continued support from our community and artists. Historically the center has received approximately 300 entries, including 2-D and 3-D works. The entries are juried to approximately 100 pieces.  Last year’s exhibit represented traditional mediums such as oil, graphite, and watercolor as well as fiber, glass, metalwork and prints—just to name a few!

Work will be judged on quality, originality, concept, design and technique to receive over $1,000 in cash awards for Best of Show, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place and several community sponsored awards including the Hardy Watercolor Award and the Phyllis Lloyd Memorial Award.

The Awards Presentation and Reception takes place Friday, November 4, 2016, 6 p.m.–8 p.m. with awards presented at 7 p.m. Our openings are free and open to the public, so join us for a wonderful evening and celebrate with the winners and artists. This show runs through December 14, 2016. Gallery hours are Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
