Warm up this Winter at the Morgan Conservatory

by Diana Zubal

Morgan grown paper mulberry “kozo” prepared during the Annual Kozo Harvest.

Shake off the chill and warm up with the Morgan’s restorative artistic activities and compelling workshops. We’re using this winter’s grey weather to refocus on personal artistic growth, and we’d love for you to join us. Get creative and energized with everything paper, print, and book!

Join us from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, December 6, for the opening reception of our Morgan Maker’s Exhibition. Just in time for the holidays, mix and mingle with our artist members and talk with prolific artists including Jeanetta Ho and Paula Damm. This exhibition is concurrent with our Arts Pass partners: Praxis, SPACES, and Zygote. In the new year, the Morgan is hosting a series of Crit Nights. Sign up to share some of your work in progress, or just join in the conversation with a thoughtful and productive artist community over cups of hot cocoa and tea. Dates and times to be announced.

The Winter Workshop Season is upon us, and in 2025, we’re focused on sustainable practices as well as professional artistic development, including writing artist statements, applying to residencies, framing and photographing your work, and more. Look for the holiday workshop sale to get a deal on these creative and informative workshops.

13th Annual Juried Exhibition Open Call
As the quarter century approaches, the Morgan Conservatory hosts its 13th Annual Juried Exhibition. This year artists are invited to reflect on the theme of the exhibition, Interwoven Aspects: Innovation and Tradition in Paper Art. Artists are encouraged to respond to the ever-changing landscape the upcoming quarter century brings; whether that is the rise of AI and other technologies, the idea of intersectionality, or the transformative nature of paper as a medium and substrate. Artwork encompassing this theme is eligible for submission. This year’s exhibition will be juried by Ashley Pastore and Kelly Taylor Mitchell.
For complete details and eligibility, visit our website, morganconservatory.org, or submit your application to themorganartofpapermaking13thannualjuriedshow.artcall.org.

Remember to join us for the public reception and award ceremony for this exciting exhibition from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, March 28, 2025.

See you at the Morgan this winter!
