The Nature of Women: Come Celebrate Women in Art at East Ave Market and Gallery
Opening in the month of November is an exhibition featuring the work of Cleveland-based Ghanaian artist, Nana Kwesi Agyare. Agyare’s exhibition, entitled Womanism, aims to evoke a deep emotional response from viewers, encouraging them to examine the beautiful nature of women. He’ll be using cubism to depict the strength, beauty, and multifaceted nature of women, while simultaneously connecting to the broader human experience. A recent highlight of internationally renowned Agyare’s work is his contribution to the North Hill Community Development Corporation community mural project in partnership with his manager, Dr. Tameka Ellington. Dr. Ellington is a scholar, artist, and curator who plans to elevate African American art and culture locally and beyond.
The nature of women can also be perceived as a force: a powerful, necessary, and evolving force. As the only Black all-woman-owned art space in the area, we welcome this perspective and look forward to seeing his work. At East Ave Gallery, we place immense importance on the value of women at home and in every level of society. So there is always a time to celebrate women.
Nana asks all who attend to dress in traditional Ghanaian garb, adding an extra layer of authenticity and cultural richness. This unique dress code not only enhances the overall aesthetic of the event, but also serves as a powerful symbol of pride and respect for Ghanaian heritage. With such great appeal and anticipation, it is for that reason the ladies at East Ave Gallery have decided to extend this exhibition through February 28, 2025.
Before and after the exhibition, feel free to stop in to East Ave’s marketplace for a unique shopping experience. The storefront’s marketplace will be refreshed with new local vendors and makers from the diverse community. Just in time for the gifting season!
