Photo Poets: Wilbur Frierson III
Wil Frierson is a Cleveland-based visual artist with over ten years experience capturing indoor and outdoor architecture in their natural element. He aims to make you feel like you’re immersed in that environment, experiencing it from a “bystander’s” point of view. Out of the way, taking it all in.
As a professional photographer and videographer, Frierson focuses on the architecture of the east side of Cleveland and documenting neighborhoods that have experienced divestment and abandoned properties. He frames his work in a way that makes you wonder which corner of Cleveland he is in, and he often explores on foot. As an avid cyclist, his perspective of the city is much different than the average driver, and it shows in his street photography.
Aja: How do you interpret the title “Photo Poet?”
Wil: A Photo Poet is a photographer who tries their best to show you how they see what they see, when they see it!
