MEN | the exhibition at Tinnerman Lofts

Daniel Levin has always been moved by highly creative people and the works they produce. It’s the kind of experience he feels at his torso’s center. Although the mediums are, of course, relevant, for Daniel to be moved to the highest degree, there must be a symbiosis between the ideas explored and the exceptional craft of the artist. When he was in graduate school, Daniel found a lack of appreciation for the need for craft by much of his faculty, which confounded him. He doesn’t subscribe to it for himself, or for his students.

Creative thought applies to mathematics, sociology, and, of course, to music. Daniel cannot think of a discipline that doesn’t have the potential for high creativity.

Daniel has had the good fortune to lead a creative life, one that has led him to be commissioned to create portraits of many well-known figures. For this new exhibition titled MEN | the exhibition, he chose subjects who are close to him who happen to be highly creative male artists from multiple disciplines in our region. These six men have inspired countless others with their ideas and their sublime, and masterful, executions.

Each happens to be a teacher as well as an exceptional artist, committed to sharing their expertise with others. All six either teach at the college level, conduct in-depth workshops for students of all ages, or teach fellow scholars within their disciplines worldwide.
