At the Edward E. Parker Museum of Art, we encourage people to explore their artistic abilities and appreciate the beauty of expression in all its forms. We think art should be accessible to everyone, and strive to provide an inclusive environment, with engaging arts programming for all ages. Here’s how we will we close out 2024, and bring in 2025.

The Gift of Art
The Gift of Art is a monthly pop-up art show organized by Cleveland artist Walter Allen Rogers. The work of local artists is displayed, and available for purchase in the Creative Arts Complex from 2 to 7 pm. Join us for great conversation, networking opportunities, and the chance to pick up a one-of-a-kind piece that speaks to you. Refreshments are provided by African American Artists of Cleveland. Artists interested in participating should contact the office. Dates: January 18 and February 15.

New Exhibits
This year, we will be hosting a series of exhibits; the first is scheduled to begin February 28, 2025. The theme for the first show is Season’s Change. Additional themes are The path of Light and Shadow, What’s going on?, and Bizarre and Surreal. We encourage artists with artwork that fits within the themes we’re exploring to apply. Images may be submitted for review via email (snickerfritz1941@yahoo.com) or in person by appointment. All mediums accepted. Size restrictions may apply. For more information, call 216.682.8214.

Community Art Class
Cleveland-based artist Herman Gilbert has been instructing sculpture in the lower-level studio every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 8 pm. Members of the class created an assortment of stoneware sculptures, bowls and plates, which prompted Master Artist Edward Parker to fire the kiln. He surprised the class with a demo of the throwing process, and introduced them to the pottery wheel. Students will glaze their pieces, and begin working with leather. As always, seniors attend this class for free.

Community Collaboration
Edward Parker Museum of Art supports initiatives that bring people together and positively impact our community. We need like-minded partners to join us in this pursuit. Whether it’s organizing a neighborhood block party, providing information and resources to residents, or beautifying blighted areas, we welcome the challenge. Pooling our resources, expertise, and passion for positive change will uplift our communities.

The museum is open to the public from 10 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday. For visits outside of normal business hours, please call to schedule an appointment. We would love to take you on a tour of the galleries and studio space. “Think Art for social development!”
