FALL 2020 EVENTS

Photo by Bryan Clark, shot during Black Lives Matter protests in Cleveland, courtesy of Heights Arts.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, many art events planned for fall 2020 have been cancelled outright, or moved to virtual platforms. The listings are based on announcements by each presenting organization, at press-time. Depending on the course of the disease and trends in rates of infection, events may be added, cancelled, or postponed. Check the CAN Weekly e-newsletter for the most up-to-date information. To subscribe to the free CAN Weekly, visit CANjournal.org.

Michael Loderstedt: Memoir

Artist Michael Loderstedt returns to his Outer Banks hometown of Emerald Isle with a notebook and a film camera to create a memoir of the 1970s development of an unspoiled barrier island. It’s a love story of sorts to family difficulties, the enduring power of the natural environment, and the will to become an artist. Traditional silver gelatin prints, objects, and text create this installation about a landscape often frequented, but barely understood. Presented in conjunction with the recently published book The Yellowhammer’s Cross.

Reception 5-7 pm September 4
