Summer in Chagrin Falls always brings a few beloved traditions: blossoms, balloons, popcorn, and Art by the Falls. Held over two days during the second weekend of June, this annual art festival has brought fine artists and crafters to the idyllic Riverside Park for over three decades. Originally held 36 years ago as a way for the young Valley Art Center to promote its robust roster of professional art instructors, the event has grown over time to a full-fledged weekend festival with over 100 booths filled with original juried arts and crafts from local, regional, and national professional artisans. You won’t want to miss the interactive demo booths, kids’ activities, live music and dancing, delicious fare from local and regional food vendors, raffles, and more! This year, Art by the Falls will be open from 10:00am to 7:00pm on Saturday, June 8, and 10:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday, June 9.

Summer at VAC also brings the annual Student/Faculty Exhibit. This popular annual exhibition showcases the diversity of classes and mediums offered by our talented faculty and is a platform to celebrate the successes of our students. Over the past year, Valley Art Center has offered over 400 classes and workshops, taught by 30+ professional instructors, to over 1,500 students. Please join us at the opening reception on Friday, June 28 from 6:00 to 8:00pm to experience all the remarkable ways our students and faculty make us what we are! While you are here, be sure to cast your vote for the Frank and Yolita Rausche People’s Choice Awards. Cash prizes will be awarded to one adult and one child who are VAC students. There will also be an extended showing featuring the People’s Choice winners and other selected work, at the Chagrin Falls Historical Society as a precursor to VAC’s 50^th Anniversary celebration in 2021.

With abundant dining, shopping, and art destinations in easy walking distance down the hill from VAC, Chagrin Falls is a great summertime destination.
