The Harris∙Stanton Gallery reaches a milestone achievement this June by celebrating our 30th anniversary. Harris∙Stanton Gallery made its debut in Pilgrim Square, Akron in 1987 as the Evelyne Shaffer Gallery. The gallery was named after owner, Evelyne Shaffer, a French gallerist and art collector. Evelyne brought to Akron many European artists, with an emphasis in French art. In 1994, Meg Harris purchased the Evelyne Shaffer Gallery and in 1998, she changed the name to Harris·Stanton Gallery. She has maintained the gallery’s reputation for being the premiere source for fine art in Summit County. In 2014, the gallery expanded north to open a second location in downtown Cleveland. We are excited to have the opportunity to expose our exclusive artists to an entire new audience in Cleveland, while continuing to exhibit our ever expanding body of local, national, and international art to our long time clients in Akron. As we look towards the future, we continue to work hard to expose our artists to new audiences by exhibiting outside of Northeast Ohio.

HSG has flourished into one of the leading galleries in Northeast Ohio by supporting local artists in addition to bringing a global art presence to the region by exhibiting international artists. To celebrate what sets us apart from other galleries in the region, Harris∙Stanton Gallery will be hosting two special 30th Anniversary shows featuring our top-selling regional and international artists. We represent both established and emerging artists from the region and internationally to showcase an eclectic mix of styles and media.

The Akron location will be celebrating the occasion and its European roots with a special group exhibition featuring the best-selling international artists that have been with the gallery since its inception, as well as some exciting new artists. The 30th Anniversary International Exhibition begins with an opening reception on Thursday, June 1 and closes Saturday, July 15, 2017. Featured artists include world renowned Arthur Luiz Piza, Alexander Befelein, Courtlandt Swartz, Pierre Boncompain, Miguel Olivares and many more!

The Cleveland location will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary with a special group exhibition featuring some of our top artists from Northeast Ohio from the past 30 years.  The 30th Anniversary Regional Exhibition begins with an opening reception on June 9, 2017 and ends July 15, 2017.  Artists participating in the show include Mindy Tousley, Mark Soppeland, Terry Klausman, Guerin Wolf, Christine Ries, Julian Stanczak, and Barbara Stanczak among many others!
