Each summer the beautiful Eastman Reading Garden, an outdoor oasis at Cleveland Public Library, is transformed into a visually compelling space that welcomes Clevelanders to discover and explore the work of contemporary artists in a free outdoor garden. LAND studio and Cleveland Public Library have partnered to create See Also, which introduces nationally recognized artists to Cleveland.

This summer, the Eastman Reading Garden features the work of Virginia based artist, Andréa Keys Connell. Her installation, titled Migration, is comprised of a collection of life size ceramic sculptures that take visitors on an imaginary journey that unfolds as they walk through the garden much like the experience of reading a storybook. An elephant with a stacked tower of books on it’s back draws visitors in from Superior Avenue and upon entry to the garden, the discovery of a lion in the shrubs, a girl with her arms outreached and a flock of red birds perched in the trees leave the story open to interpretation. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover your story and world-class public art at the Cleveland Public Library’s Eastman Reading Garden this summer. The installation will be on view until October 15, 2015.

Andréa’s work has been featured in a number of national and international publications, and is widely exhibited. Most recently Andrea was featured in Art Papers, Korean Monthly Ceramics, and she was highlighted as one of Ceramic Monthly’s Emerging Artists. Andréa is also a featured artist in the recent books Ceramics and the Human Figure and Lark Books 500 Figures in Clay.
